So I was in Vegas last week and had the chance to go to Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill. The Food Network staple opened his only restaurant outside of New York a couple of years ago. I can only imagine what his rent is inside of Casear’s Palace. Mesa Grill is right next to the biggest and best sports book in Vegas, has the Pussycat Dolls lounge as a neighbor and is across from the best nightclub ‘Pure.’

I went with a couple of good friends on a Sunday around brunch time. Mesa grille was busy, but not packed. I had walked by a couple of nights before and it was BUSY. So we were lucky on the timing. Really fancy environment that totally insulates you from the madness of the casino. A lot of colors and textures. If you ever go, even the ceiling is cool to look at.
The meal started with a basket of blueberry coffeecake, blue and yellow corn muffins, jalepeno and cheese biscuits, and a ginger scone. All were good. It was nice to have such a variety of sweet, savory and spice. I washed this all down with a cactus pear ice tea. Very clean and refreshing.
The next step was the ‘goat cheese queso fundido’ with blue tortilla chips. The cheese dip had roasted peppers on top and was awesome. I washed those down with a cactus pear margarita made with Herradura Silver Tequila, Cactus Pear Juice + Fresh Lime Juice.
Now the entree. I couldn’t go to Bobby Flay’s and just have his burger or a pork sandwhich. I had to go outside the box and had a ‘Bobbied’ classic…SPICY CHICKEN and SWEET POTATO HASH with Poached Eggs and Green Chile Hollandaise.

No, I didn’t order it because it had ‘hash’ in it name. This meal also came with some southwestern style home fries. There was so much going on in this dish. The chicken was moist and had a great spicy/bbq flavor. The sweet potatos were melt in your mouth and balanced the heat of the chicken and the green chile sauce. The poached egg leaked everywhere and added a velvety characteristic. The flavors were amazing. I was really pleased and had no room for dessert.
I hope you get a chance to enjoy some of Bobby Flay’s flavors either in Ney York City or Las Vegas. Just becareful what time you go and go after you won big. This meal wasn’t cheap, but the company and the food made it all worth while.
